Safe. Smart. Easy.

The FloormarX® Story

Growing up as the son of a long time P.E. teacher and coach in the small town of Cobleskill, N.Y., Mitch Snyder followed in his father’s footsteps by attending the State University of New York at Cortland for his teaching degree in Physical Education, and then went on to earn his Master’s degree in Education from the University of South Carolina in 1997. It was during these formative years, while sitting in on the South Carolina men’s basketball practices and student-teaching, that he began thinking about a solution for a safer, smarter, easier way to utilize the gym floor as a teaching tool.

Mitch’s first passions were teaching and coaching. He began teaching Physical Education at the elementary and middle school levels, and accepted the Boy’s Head Varsity Basketball position in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. at age 24. As Mitch continued on with his successful teaching and coaching career, he founded his school district’s first anti-bullying club long before state mandated programs, and earned three “Coach of the Year” awards in basketball. Throughout his over twenty years in education, the concerns of student and athlete safety persisted in his mind as he used cones, rubber bases, and floor tape.

In 2011 Mitch stepped away from his varsity coaching responsibilities to spend more time with his family, and focus on raising his son Hutton, and daughter Hadley. Soon after, he began to make his longtime vision a reality, with his first prototype of the FloormarX® system in 2014. It utilized a specially formulated ink and marking pen that allows P.E. teachers, coaches, dance instructors and many more to draw quick drying, bold, durable lines and court markings that are easy to remove. After three school years of testing, his vision was manifested into FloormarX®, an innovative safer, smarter, and easier way to instruct movement!
